Golf and Practice Data

  • Practice session logs (drills completed, scores, duration)
  • Golf profile information (skill level, equipment, goals)
  • Round scores and performance data you enter
  • Practice plans and schedules

Device and Usage Data

  • Pages visited and general usage patterns (anonymized)
  • Device type, browser, and operating system (anonymized)
  • Push notification preferences and tokens (if you opt in)

Wishlist Signup

  • Your email address (when you join the wishlist on our marketing site)

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide the Service: Store and display your practice data, generate AI-powered practice plans based on your golf profile and practice history, and track your progress
  • Improve the Service: Understand usage patterns to fix bugs and improve features
  • Communicate with you: Send launch updates, important service notifications, and push notifications (if opted in)
  • Analytics: Understand how visitors use our website and app to improve the experience

3. What We Don't Do

  • We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes, and have no plans to
  • We do not track you across other websites, and have no plans to
  • We do not collect sensitive personal data (health records, financial information, location tracking), and have no plans to
  • We do not use your data to train AI models. While we use AI services to generate practice plans (see Section 4), your data is processed only for that purpose and is not used to train or improve any AI model

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following services to operate One Stroke Better:

  • Clerk — Authentication and account management (privacy policy)
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) — Cloud hosting, data storage, and infrastructure (privacy policy)
  • Anthropic (via AWS Bedrock) — AI-powered practice plan generation. Your golf profile and practice context are sent to generate personalized plans. This data is processed only to fulfill your request and is not used to train AI models. (privacy policy)
  • Amazon Simple Email Service (SES) — Email delivery for waitlist, marketing, and customer lifecycle communications (privacy policy)
  • Google Analytics — Website analytics with IP anonymization enabled (privacy policy)
  • Hotjar — Session recordings and heatmaps on our marketing website (onestrokebetter.com) to understand how visitors interact with the site (privacy policy)

These services may set cookies. You can manage cookie preferences via the cookie consent banner on our website, your browser settings, or these services' respective opt-out tools.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on servers in the United States using Amazon Web Services. We protect your data with:

  • Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest
  • Authentication via Clerk with secure token-based access
  • Access controls that limit data access to authorized services only

No system is 100% secure. While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it.

Anonymized, aggregated data (which cannot identify you) may be retained for analytics and service improvement.

7. Your Rights

  • Access your data: Email us to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct your data: Update your profile information in the app or email us for assistance
  • Delete your data: Email us to request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Unsubscribe: Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link
  • Opt out of analytics: Use the cookie consent banner or your browser settings

California Residents (CCPA)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect and how we use it (see Sections 1 and 2 above)
  • Delete your personal information
  • Opt out of sale of personal information — we do not sell your personal information
  • Non-discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights

Categories of personal information we collect: identifiers (name, email), internet activity (usage data), and profile information (golf data you provide). We do not sell or share any of these categories as defined by the CCPA.

European Residents (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, our legal basis for processing your data is:

  • Contract: Processing necessary to provide the Service you signed up for
  • Consent: Analytics cookies and marketing emails (which you can withdraw at any time)
  • Legitimate interest: Improving the Service and preventing abuse

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, data portability, and object to processing. Contact us to exercise these rights.

8. Children's Privacy

One Stroke Better is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service evolves. We'll notify you of material changes via email or in-app notice. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
